METHODS AND GUIDELINES
Street Meetings

WAYS TO USE STREET MEETINGS:

  1. As a regular method to get contacts.
  2. As an option for the `big crusade'.
  3. As a tool to make your presence known in the town.

PLANNING

  1. Pick a good location (away from so much noise).
  2. Be sure you get and carry with you the permit from the local officials
  3. Practice and master the elements of the presentation: songs, skit, preaching.
  4. Plan to catch people’s attention. Put on make up if possible.
  5. Prepare equipments: guitars, P-A system, make sure they function
  6. Remember that a good street meeting should take only 20-25 minutes, or even less. People are busy and do not usually have all day or even one hour to sit or stand and listen.
WHAT TO DO DURING STREET MEETING
  1. Support whatever is going on.
  2. Do not talk or do anything that would distract while the street meeting is in progress.
  3. Whatever your part is do it as unto the Lord with anointing.
  4. Avoid overdoing things in public. There are things we do within the church meetings that might be offending or will be misunderstood by people outside.
  5. You can put on `clown style' make up for added attraction.

GETTING RESPONSES

  1. The Preacher's job:
    1. Believe that many people will respond positively. The Holy Spirit is doing His job.
    2. Give people a chance to respond to an altar call or have counselors approach them where they are to get responses.
    3. Prompt the counselors on their jobs and explain what the counselors are doing.

SUGGESTED FORMAT (20 min. maximum)

  1. Greeting the people and Barangay Officials. Be respectful and joyful. Introduce ourselves/Announce that there will be a skit.
  2. Community singing (choose two songs that people can easily pick up)
  3. Skit – those requiring less speaking lines are preferable.
  4. Transition Statement and Preaching
  5. Challenge and getting of responses.
  6. Thank crowd and make announcements and invitation to any regular meetings you have in the SOS quarters.
