IMPORTANT FIELDWORK DETAILS
PRIORITY: Prayer, Worship & Spiritual Warfare
|
|
Church planting is a spiritual work, a task from God and hence must be done
in God's ways, strength and ways. The SOS team members give PRIORITY TO
PRAYER, PRAISE & WORSHIP.
PRAYER: We express our dependence on Him!
- Prayer as communion time with the Lord: He is our Life source.
Our spiritual life needs daily supply of the Written Word and the Living Word.
- He is the vine we are the branches. The branch cannot
exist by itself (John 15:1-5)
- He is our Father, we are His children: He cares and knows our needs
(Matt.6: 8).
- He is our Lord and Leader: He guides the humble (Ps. 25:9).
- Prayer as time for `asking', bringing our petitions to Him.
- God has released promises for us (2 Cor. 1:20 and
Rom.8:32; James 1:17)
- He is the God that hears, not an idol, but the
Living God! (Psalm 135:15-18).

PRAISE: We declare His mighty deeds!
- Praise makes us focus on God's `bigness' not on the problem
- `Magnify the Lord...' (Psalm 34:1-10).
- Scriptures teach us that praise will silence the enemy (Psalm 8:2).
- Illustration: 2 Chronicles 20:21-22.
WORSHIP: We celebrate `Him' - our focus is on Who our God is!
- Spending time in the presence of the Holy God results to cleansing.
Sin cannot stand in the presence of the Holy God. Then we are able to reflect
the glory of God to others. Like Moses who spent 40 days and nights with God
and the disciples in the NT whom people said `they have been with Jesus'.
- Knowing Him more – in worship, God reveals Himself to us.
Who He is becomes our inspirational for life and ministry. A
people who know their God will do exploits (Daniel 11:32).
Having stood before God, the King of Kings,
like Elijah, we can stand before a wicked and cruel king like Ahab.
- Enthroning God - we enthrone God when we worship
Him. As King of Kings, He sits on His throne in our midst. Then He can begin to
make decrees, written judgments against His enemies. Before His throne, we
can find His favor to request Him to decree
judgment against our foes. The Spirit of God Himself conceives this in our
hearts while we are in God's presence. Illustration: Queen Esther, Esther 8.
WARFARE: Addressing, Confronting, Binding, and Casting Away the
Enemy
- After we have submitted to God in prayer, declared His greatness,
beheld Him in His Presence, then we can stand before the enemy, resist him
and he will flee!
- With authority from God, we can bind the strongman of the town/city
(Luke 11:22).
- Principle: Success in our evangelistic efforts depends on our victory in
this spiritual war. Illustration: Exodus 17.
- Execute the written judgment God has made against the enemy (Psalm 149).
CONCLUSION SOS work is accomplished in the might of the Spirit.
We will pray, praise, worship and engage in spiritual war.
