THE. S.O.S. FIELDWORK ACTION STEPS
CONTACT step: Roles and Methods

LEAD GROUP: FD & HIS BODY OF LEADERS (PW, INTERN FD, SQUAD LEADERS, TEAM SCRIBE, WORSHIP LEADER AND OTHER LEAD MEMBERS).

  1. Conduct an actual survey of the town to gather information that will be helpful in scheduling and assigning area of concentration for the different squads.
  2. Plan most appropriate all-team Friendship and Goodwill tour in the town to accomplish the following altogether: survey openness of people, observe general reaction of town people to strangers, make a good first impression and to announce/make people aware of the team's presence in town.
  3. Contact and get the goodwill of the key people in town. FD and PW contact the town officials. Squad Leaders contact baranggay heads and heads of organizations.
  4. Discern prejudices and resistance and plan best ways to counteract and overcome them. (FD lead team in intercession to break down these barriers in people's minds).
  5. Strategize how to have a systematic and comprehensive way to contact all kinds of people: the rich & poor, the young & old, people from all walks of life. Determine area of ministry and saturate it by streets. Plan how to reach the business sector in their work places: in restaurants, department stores, market stalls, etc.
  6. Determine most effective and applicable methods to use. Venture out to try as many methods possible for different situations (See Handout on Contact Methods).
  7. Determine number of days to concentrate in getting contacts.
  8. Devise ways to speed up getting number of contacts through networking methods (see handouts on Contact Methods). Be keen to spot sponsors and bridges and unchurched Christians that can be mobilized as witnesses.
  9. Design marking system to be used by volunteers to indicate responses in homes.
  10. Report and have results of work recorded by squad scribes.
  11. FD identifies areas of need of volunteers for effective contact ministry and addresses them during the Group Study Session.

LIFE AND LIGHT GROUP:

  1. Prepare to have an effective contribution in the all-team Friendship Tour.
  2. Go out in pairs (Life and Light members) to get as many contacts possible using the most effective methods. Work under the directives of the squad leaders.
  3. Be willing to obey whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do in specific situations - to overcome barriers and win friendship of contacts. Do not easily give up if people seem unresponsive or even hostile at the start.
  4. Make it your goal to lead people to open their homes for Bible study or attend one (NOT NECESSARILY TO LEAD THE CONTACT TO DO THE SINNER’S PRAYER). Master and use the tips in selling the idea of Home Bible Study. Be sure to make an appointment for the BS.
  5. Spot sponsor-type and bridge-type contacts as well as unchurched Christians and give extra effort to win their friendship.
  6. Report and have results of work recorded by squad scribes.
  7. Pray and Intercede for your contacts.
  8. LIFE GROUP: Prepare self to conduct Bible Study.
