CONTACT: Survey of Methods

SOS uses all means to get contacts. Applicability and affectivity vary from
place to place. The team must have faith in God, creativity and sensitivity
to the Holy Spirit.
METHODS FOR SURVEY & INTRODUCTION
To have the feel of the town, make presence known, create a good first
impression & overcome prejudices & resistance.
- Survey tour of the town – to complete or improve survey information
about the town. Better done by LEADERS and squad operations officers.
- Goodwill and Friendship Tour – an all team walk into the town streets.
Can be a:
- Jog through the town (be sure you are not a nuisance)
- Community Service: street cleaning or picking up garbage (Get
permit first)
- Late afternoon walk to befriend people. Pay respect to the elderly.
- Trip by squads to where groups of people are: basketball courts,
sari-sari stores, markets, parking place of public vehicles, work
places, rice fields, wells.
GETTING ACQUAINTED VISITS: To know & show interest in people.
- Friendly house visits – Acquaintance level, to win friends.
- Spiritual Need Survey – Use of survey questions to measure spiritual
awareness. Often leads to person to person witnessing.
NETWORKING: To link with people who are influencers.
- Good will visit of LEAD members to town officials and other key people
in town.
- Winning the elders, bridges and sponsor type contacts:
SPONSORS – Influential members of the community someone like Cornelius.
BRIDGES – people with plenty of friends and wider web of relationships.
- Working with groups – Basketball Team, Youth Club, Women's League, etc.
- Reaching and working with acquaintances, friends, relatives in town.
- Later, work with contacts and converts to reach those within their
circle of influence.
- Enlisting and mobilizing unchurched Christians as witnesses.
NEED ORIENTED SESSIONS: Find a need & fill it, find a hurt
& heal it
- House visitation and prayer for the sick – Best avenue for reception.
- Practical and charismatic servanthood – offering a helping hand like
fetching water.
- Counseling – helping people through their problems by wise word of
counsel,
- Daily Prayer Meetings (handled by PW) – Brief Charismatic type open
to people.
PERSONAL WITNESSING: Sharing person to person.
- Tract distribution – designed to lead to witnessing
- Your Personal Testimony – testifying about your experience with God
- Conversational Witnessing – non-threatening approach using questions
that lead to Spiritual topics and ultimately on the issues of salvation.
GROUP & PUBLIC FORUM: Group meetings & sessions.
- Crusade – Open Air Crusade, Healing Services with Evangelistic
emphasis.
- Street Meetings – in street corners, plaza or any place where people
gather.
- Seminars – Life in the Spirit, Family Life, Value Formation,
Anti-Drug/Alcohol, etc.
