JOB DESCRIPTION of Team Warden

The Team Warden serves as one of the administrative staff assisting the Field Director. He is trained by the corresponding Chief Warden with regards to procedures, systems and policies to be implemented. Many of the functions of the Team Warden concern the camp life and conduct of the SOS team members. It is important that each volunteer is familiar with his responsibilities and the procedures he will implement.

RESPONSIBLE TO:Field Director & Area/Chief Warden

RESPONSIBILITIES DURING TRAINING:

  1. Attend training conducted by the Chief Warden. Receive WARDEN'S FOLDER and familiarize self with content.
  2. Check out from the Chief Warden all equipment for the team during the scheduled day for turning over of supplies. Assist Team Scribe with his/her own supplies.
  3. Master and make necessary pre-field preparations to implement field jobs and procedures spelled out below.
  4. Coordinate with Area/Chief Warden in making arrangements for transportation to field.

RESPONSIBILITIES ON FIELD:

  1. Spearhead in the setting up of SOS quarters on field. Facilitate the setting up of lights, water supply source, kitchen and other housing needs. Get the assistance of squad leaders.
  2. Take charge of security of field quarters. Designate security guards on rotation basis.
  3. Be in charge of keys to rooms and gates.
  4. Form 7 Housekeeping Teams (one team for each day of the week). Oversee their work.
  5. Record on RECORD OF VISITORS all incoming and outgoing visitors., be guided by the following rules:
    1. Visitors arriving after 10 a.m. or 4p.m. CANNOT be accommodated in the next immediate meal.
    2. Visitors should abide with all security & household rules.
    3. Inform Team Comptroller of any visitors eating with the team.

  6. Record on RECORD OF TRIPS OUTSIDE THE CAMP all trips of team members to leave camp for non-SOS business.
    1. Have volunteer show written permit from FD.
    2. Warden fills up logbook accordingly and let outgoing volunteer sign in the space provided before he leaves. The volunteer will sign again in the space provided when he returns.
    3. Report to FD any volunteer who fails to return as expected.

  7. Suggest to FD necessary regulations/procedures concerning security and living conditions in the quarters. Have these approved first by FD before implementing any if them.
  8. Update FD about any problems related to area of responsibility.
  9. Make check up rounds before lights off. Check if all volunteers are in their sleeping quarters. Check if doors/gates are secured.
  10. Design a bell/whistle code to indicate waking time, quite times, evening lights off and meal times.
  11. See to it that volunteers observe quiet times in quarters: no noises, singing or playing musical instruments during sleeping and study periods, and before waking hours in the morning.
  12. Spearhead team in general clean-up of quarters and kitchen utensils at the conclusion of the field work.
  13. Return all keys to designated persons.
  14. Take charge of arranging or transacting transportation from field.

RESPONSIBILITY AFTER FIELD WORK

  1. Return all equipment to the Chief Warden upon arrival from field work. Get clearance from the same. This can be done personally or by a representative.
