THE S.O.S. GOAL AND S.O.S TEAM
JOB DESCRIPTION of Field Director

1. IMPLEMENTS THE S.O.S. STRATEGY

  1. Regularly emphasizes the SOS goals so that the team members will make the goals as their vision that will drive them to work with unified efforts.
  2. Finalizes appointments of team officers and organizes the team into squads with squad officers. Divide the total goal among squads.
  3. Organizes the Body of Leaders that will assist him in strategizing and decision making. This should include the Intern, Chaplain, PW, Team Trainer, Team Scribe, Squad Leaders, Worship Leader, and other capable LEAD volunteers.
  4. Draws up the most feasible and applicable field work daily schedule to include the necessary program elements given in the guideline. (Refer to Field Work Schedule).
  5. Designs and implements an effective time frame for the three week campaign using the SOS church planting strategy: contact, convert congregate and consolidate.
  6. Determines with his Leaders the most applicable methods to use and the fit personnel to do certain jobs or do follow-up of certain contacts and converts.
  7. Navigates the team towards the goal. Mobilizes the team members according to their classification and spelled out roles for the different stages of field work. Makes changes in assignments or groupings if necessary.
  8. Plans with his leaders the daily effort of the team. Determines daily concentration of work: geographic concentration, getting contacts, street meetings, home visits, follow ups, etc.

2. SUPERVISES ALL THE TEAM PERSONNELS

  1. Orients, reviews and clarifies to team officers and members their, job descriptions assignments, procedures and policies.
  2. Trains the intern using the SOS training scheme for interns
  3. Assists and checks on the Pioneer worker's performance.
  4. Checks through squad leaders performances of individual team members.
  5. Checks on the carrying out of the functions of the Team Officers (Team Scribe, Comptroller, Warden) ‑ that procedures are followed and policies are observed.
  6. Schedules regular meetings with the different groups (suggested in the Field Work Schedule) to include in the meeting matters relevant to the groups concerned.
  7. Leads team to agree to follow certain performance standards for the entire team to observe.
  8. Communicate to Trainer & Chaplain details needed for the proper functioning of the two.
  9. Chairs the Emergency and Disciplinary Council (composed of the FD, Intern, Chaplain and Squad Leaders). Council will handle any untoward inci­dents: accidents, misbehavior, or illness, and make appropriate decisions or disciplinary actions.
  10. Approves/Disapproves any volunteer's request to leave the field camp based on information in the Volunteer's Data sheet.

3. MONITORS ALL ACTIVITIES AND ASSIGNMENTS

  1. Conducts Spot Check-ups & unannounced visits to squads in field.
  2. Evaluates with Leaders (daily and weekly) the results of activities compared to the goals, and make necessary steps to improve or correct efforts towards the goal.
  3. Checks records keeping and updating by Team Scribe. Instructs Team Scribe to have daily tabulation & reporting of results.
  4. Oversees use of the finances. Acts as Approving officer of all disbursements.
  5. Supervises and approves systems and procedures recommended by the Team Warden, Team Comptroller and Team Scribe for the smooth carrying out of their assignments.
  6. Sees to it that the Team Officers and Volunteers make the necessary things to do at the conclusion of the Field Work: Reports to be turned over, equipment to be returned, finances to be accounted for, proper clean up of quarters, etc.

4. MOTIVATES AND EQUIPS THE TEAM REGULARLY

  1. Performs this function through the Team Chaplain & Team Trainer/s.
    1. Oversees the ministry of the Team Chaplain in providing motivation and spiritual direction for the field work through ministry of the Word as well as in attending to the personal needs of the volunteers.
    2. Supervises and make regular recommendations to the Team Trainer’s as to the content and emphases of the regular equipping sessions designed to better prepare the volunteers for their daily work.
  2. Provides times for praise,worship, prayer and intercession times. Encourages operation & manifestation of the Spiritual gifts. Make regular recommendations to worship leader.
  3. Promotes and maintains the harmonious working relations among the team members. Promotes teamwork and healthy competition.

5. PROVIDES FOR SMOOTH TRANSITION AND CONSERVATION

  1. Directs team for effective linkage of contacts/converts with the Pioneer Worker and with one another.
  2. Sits down regularly with the PW for the later’s effective ministry as the field work progresses.
  3. Plans w/ PW as to the later’s prominent roles and actions in congregate gatherings, the Grand Opening Service and in the First Church Meeting.
  4. Spearheads and mobilizes Leaders in consolidating results and preparing reports for Turnovers to Pioneer Worker.
  5. Leaves PW encouragement, counsel and explanations, instructions needed before the SOS team pulls out.
  6. Carefully accomplishes the FD report form for the SOS Director and submits it on arrival from field.
  7. Attends scheduled Evaluation Day.

IMPORTANT: FD Leads the team, not the converts. Promotes leadership of PW among the contacts & converts.
