III. PHASES OF CHURCH PLANTING

PASTOR'S GUIDE THROUGH THE PHASES

V. PHASE 5: EXTENDING

DESCRIPTION: Educating, leading and mobilizing the church to involve in local and foreign missions, both in ways within their capacities, and in ways where they do missions in partnership with other missionary churches.

THE CHURCH AT THIS POINT: The church continues and constantly progress in her evangelism, edifying, equipping and expansion ministries, but also begins to broaden her vision to include the world. As it continues to grow qualitatively and quantitatively, it also increases its capacity and participation in mission.

I. OBJECT OF MINISTRY:
The whole church mobilized for local and foreign missions concerns
The lost world as recipients of the ministry.
Prospect missionaries to be raised up, trained and sent for the mission field.

II. PASTOR'S MAJOR ROLES: At this point, the pastor has been an evangelist, teacher, pastor, prophet, and now he is ready to be an apostle by leading his church to fulfill God's apostolic calling for the church. Should the pastor feel the call of God to go out as a missionary to another place, he will have to do the role of preparing another to take over his church.

III. SUNDAY SERMON AND SERVICE EMPHASES: Sermons to educate people in missions, local and foreign; build their faith in God who will enable them to do more through Him and for His kingdom.

IV. ACTIVITIES AND METHODS:

Participation in Church planting program like SOS
Missions Seminar
Missions Conventions
Missions Faith Pledges
Membership and participation in ACTS

VI. WORK FORCE AND ORGANIZATION: Pastor continues to evaluate church structure and make necessary changes to meet its growing ministries and needs.

VII. SPECIFIC GOAL:

1. At least 80% of the congregation supports missions through faith pledges, in addition to their tithes and offerings.

2. Local church become charter member of ACTS and partner in missions in terms of money, ministry and manpower.

VIII. TIME FRAME: 3-4 months. Starts on the 21st month from onset of ministry. This is also the last month for the expansion emphasis during which the church must have already developed compassion for the lost and have discovered the joy of expanding God's kingdom.
